How do you keep going, knowing that half of the country wants you to not exist?

Lets do a gut-check
This election cycle has been nearly two years of anxiety and despair for many Americans. We have lost, in many cases the rights to bodily autonomy, have faced increased threats from a nebulous collection of neighbors, government officials, lawmakers, and many more.
Before Kamala Harris entered the presidential race, the prospect of a Trump win was almost certain. But one day before the election, with some polls putting Harris’ at 53% to Trump’s 42%, gives me a little hope.
We, in the LGBTQIA+ community are still nervous of course, we have fought a good many battles over our rights, and we keep getting smacked around by fear-mongering politicians, who for the most part, will never experience the daily struggles or fears of being a community member in the United States.
Politicians, making unpopular decisions to appease their extremist constituents, and finding a boogey-man to distract from their incompetence and radical views is nothing new of course, they’ve been doing it since the beginning of the invention of politicians.
Of course, there is no cure for this, except to not vote for those people, but, as a vast number of people have already demonstrated, they vote with their hatred and fears of the “other”.
If you are in a cult, you don’t know you’re in a cult.
I have a good deal of hope for the future, and have a small amount of trust that the overreaches by the supreme court, and the hateful rhetoric from the candidate will have had the impact on the candidate that will ultimately seal his fate.
Hopefully, his criminal convictions, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and dementia, will have the right effect on him, and disqualify him in the eyes of the voters. Although, you never can really predict how this is going to go.
Let’s go out there and vote, if you haven’t already, Lets make a difference, lets ensure the future of this country is secure.
